Dr Mardeyah Bassier

Dr Mardeyah Bassier is a Paediatrician practising at Melomed Hospital in Bellville. She completed MBChB in 2005 and additionally did a 1 year Degree in BMedSc  under the tutelage of Prof Patrick Bouic in 2002. In 2010 she became a Registrar in Paediatrics. Dr Bassier also completed various courses, including Advanced Paediatric Life Support, Advanced Neonatal Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, and Advanced Trauma Life Support. 

Dr Bassier started her career as a Paediatric Intern at Tygerberg Hospital. Thereafter, she worked as a Community Medical Officer at Abraham Esau Hospital in Calvinia. She also worked as a Medical Officer in Neonatology at Groote Schuur Hospital. In 2010, she became the Registrar of Paediatrics at Tygerberg Hospital and in 2016, she achieved her dream of opening her own Paediatric practice in Cape Town. 

As a dedicated paediatrician, Dr Bassier understands how important it is to listen to her young patients and their parents about the symptoms of chronic illnesses, acute illnesses, development issues and other paediatric conditions. She works closely with a multidisciplinary team of professionals to provide quality care for children. Dr Bassier has a special interest in assessing newborns, managing allergies and paediatric development issues.
